Kataang & Borra: An Avatar Parallel

“You really feel that way about me?’

“I’ve felt that way…since the moment I saw you.”

Now go get married and have fierce babies.

Ditto.

Too cute not to reblog.

Is it bad that I’ve started to appreciate Kataang more through my love of Borra? I mean, Zutara still is my OTP for A:TLA, but Kataang…I think I may like it now.

(I still think it’s too maternal though for me to really like it. I hope at least Aang and Katara grew together through their relationship over the years and developed a REAL romantic relationship rather than a psuedo-romantic parent/child thing).

Don’t hurt me.

I agree wholeheartedly…No, seriously, this is exactly what I’ve been thinking.

I was fairly hardcore Zutara back when the series was airing, but my interest in Borra has made me go back and reexamine the relationship between Katara and Aang. I can appreciate now that we were able to watch a boyhood crush deepen slowly but steadily into love, and for a somewhat lonely young girl to find first hope, then a teammate, and then eventually something more within her best friend.

And she knew. Katara just knew, right from the beginning, that there was something special about Aang, and it had nothing to do with him being the Avatar. In a world that always asked and demanded more of him, I think she was the one person who could let him be just Aang when he needed it.

That’s a role I can see Bolin playing for Korra: because I don’t think her being the Avatar had anything to do with his initial interest in her, either. There’s something about her that, I dunno, shines for him. That’s one of the reasons I love this ship so much.  For Bolin, she’s not special because she’s the Avatar; she’s the Avatar because she’s special.

And I think Korra, who puts such a crushing amount of her self-worth into filling that role when she’s only human herself, really really really needs to hear that from someone.

…OKAY, BRYKE. YOU WIN, I LOSE. JUST LET BORRA HAPPEN AND I WON’T CARE.

THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR.

OUTSIDE OF AVATAR, I MEAN.

I’VE HEARD THIS BEFORE.

OH GOD.

I actually started crying just now
